Green Himalayan Salt Lamp Have you ever noticed beautiful textiles hanging from the wall and someone told you, “it’s Macrame?” The root work, ‘Macramé’, is actually a form of textile that is made from the use of knotting. When compared to other forms such as knitting or weaving.

Macrame Hanging on Every Wall

The primary knots of macrame wall hangings are the square form. Notably, you’ll observe a form of hitching knots as well. These knots originated from sailors and seamen to protect knives and glassware. Macrame style hails from the 13-th century AD Arabic weavers' word ‘migramah’ meaning "fringe". What kinds of fringes you might think? Well this particular kind refers to what hangs on camels or horses which aids the animals in keeping flies and pests while in the desert regions of Africa.
Turkish Origins & Macrame Wall Hangings?
If you do a little digging, you’ll quickly notice that another school of thought indicates Macrame Wall hangings originated from Turkish makrama, "napkin" or "towel". Practically, in the Turkish regions it was used as a way to secure the ends of weaves or use up extra yarn left over. One of the earliest recorded uses of macramé-style knots as decoration, such as we see in the infamous Macrame Wall Hanging, appeared in the carvings of the Babylonians and Assyrians. Macrame Wall decorations have a long history of travel. They moved from North Africa, through Spain and all the way to the Moors. This is how they landed in France and then - the rest of Europe at large.

Wide Macrame Wall Hanging

In the Western Hemisphere, macramé is believed to have originated with 13th-century Arab weavers. These artisans knotted the excess thread and yarn along the edges of hand-loomed fabrics into decorative fringes on bath towels, shawls, and veils. The Spanish word macramé is derived from the Arabic miqramah meaning "striped towel", "ornamental fringe" or "embroidered veil". After the Moorish takeover, the Wide Macrame Wall Hanging art was taken to Spain, then to Italy. The final landing place of these decorative wall hangings made it to mother England at the Court of Mary the Second. I
Decorative Macrame Wall Hangings on a Ship?
Macrame wall hangings both normal and wide were popular in the Victorian era. Many countless Victorian homes were adorned with the Macrame craft. Macrame wall hanging style was used to make household items such as tablecloths, bedspreads and curtains as well. Sailors made macrame type objects in off hours while traveling the great big sea, and sold or bartered them when they landed, thus spreading the art to places like China and the New World. Though the craze for macrame wall hangings faded, but they re-emerged in popularity during the 1970s. R Moving ahead a decade, by the 80’s the Macrame Wall Hangings had once again begun to fall out of fashion, making their way back into our lives during 2019.
What is Macrame Wall Hanging Made of?
Materials used in macramé include cords made of cotton twine, linen, hemp, jute, leather or yarn. Cords are identified by construction, such as a 3-ply cord, made of three lengths of fibre twisted together. All of the macrame hangings have been sturdily constructed and can be wall hung from the rope that is wrapped around a natural timber dowel.
How to create a macrame plant hanger:
Gather all 8 pieces of cord, fold in half and loop through the ring. Using your 5 foot long piece of string, tie a loop knot right below the ring. Take four strands and tie a square knot. Repeat this pattern with the next group of 4 cords, and repeat for the remaining cords.
Why is macrame popular?
It then spread to Europe via North Africa, when the Moors brought macramé to Spain. While most think of macramé as a craze of the 1970s, the craft reached peak popularity in Victorian England.
Can I use Yarn for Macrame?
The yarn you use for macrame is called macrame cord. You can use various materials such as cotton twine, hemp, leather or yarn, you can even add various beads for a different feel.

Is Macrame Wall Hanging the Same as Croche?

Crochet and macrame have similar finished products, but crochet involves the use of a crochet needle and loops of yarn, while macrame involves various intricate knots in the yarn. Both macrame and crochet are forms of knitting. While macrame was popular among sailors, it again became more widely popular in the 1970s.
What is the Purpose of a Macrame Technique?
It is more than just a decorative wide wall hanging! What is the purpose of macrame? Macrame is a fabric craft that uses a variety of knots to create functional and decorative items. It can be worked in many different kinds of thread, string and rope and is often used to make jewelry.
How is a Macrame Cord Measured?
If the macrame design uses doubled cords folded in half to form two cords, then the length should be approximately 8 times the length of the finished piece. If the piece uses a lot of open spaces and less closed spaces, then shorter cords should be used.

Can you use hemp cord for macrame?

Colored and natural hemp string is the best choice for macrame projects because its is even in thickness throughout the strand. The standard size used for making macrame jewelry is 1mm while thicker twine and hemp rope can be used for making chokers, dog collars and leashes.

Himalayan Pink Salt Light

Welcome back to the channel! Today I havea product haul from Greenclick.

Greenclick sells on Amazon.

They sell avariety of lighting and home decor products and I've chosen three toput around my home and all these would make great gifts as well.

The firstproduct that I have is a Himalayan salt lamp.

This has a light suitable for anightlight or accent lighting in the home.

Some people believe that salt lamps cleanse and deodorize the air by emitting negative ions.

I don't know ifthat is true but I do know that they are very beautiful so i use them for theirbeauty not for health benefits.

The colors are spectacular pink orange corala mix of colors.

It's about 3.

3 pounds not too heavyIt would be easy to move around.

It does come with an extra bulb so it comes with twobulbs and it uses one so you have a spare.

The type of bulb is an E12 25watt so you can even take you can even takesome of the salt crystals out for a different look.

So there's a look at thelight bulb with most of the salt crystals removed.

So this is just a verybeautiful light accent light night light and I do think it would make a greatgift.

There any number of places where you can put it I've tried it out and afew locations around my home and I haven't settled yet on where I'm goingto keep it and it looks good several places and it looks attractivewhether it's off or on.

This does have a dimmer that's on the cord so youcan dim it if you don't want very much light at all.

I like it at the brightestsetting.

So this would make a great gift to yourself or almost anyone else.

The next product that I have is a moon light.

This is a fun novelty light thatattracts attention.

Kids love it.

It's not a toy, but they do enjoy picking it upand looking at it and it charges with this USB cable that's included so youcan use the base that's included or you can hang this I guess you'd call it alittle slot where you run a string through and there is a there is a stringthat's included.

The controls are on the bottomyou press M to switch the light color between white yellow and a mix of whiteand yellow.

Here's the box that the moon lamp came in and includedwas the USB cord for charging, a little instruction page and the string ifchoose to hang if you choose to hang the light.

It measures 5.

1 inches in diametervery lightweight so according to information from the Amazon listing thecharge can last anywhere from 4 to 10 hours depending on the level ofbrightness.

So this looks good anywhere in your home or office.

I think it would begreat to put on your desk at the office something novel to look at, a conversationpiece.

I think especially teenagers kids and teenagers would love to have this intheir bedroom or even in their dorm especially hanging that would be reallycool.

This was made with 3d printing technology with eco-friendly materials.

When you have the light on the base to turn it on and off or to togglebetween the levels of brightness you just tap.

So the 3rd lighting productthat I have from Greenclick is LED string lights These can be used indoors or outdoors toadd light and color to the surrounding environment, It's good that these are notglass because I would really be worried about those breaking.

They're some sortof plastic so they don't seem like they would be particularly fragile.

It has aremote control and there are eight modes or combinationin wave sequential slow glow chasing flash mode slow fade twinkle flash andthen steady on and off And there's also a timer on the remote.

The lights arepowered by a plug it just plugs into your wall.

These lights are waterproof to ip65 and so they can withstand rain.

I have not put themoutside yet it's just kind of cold and nasty outside but um might do that maybeI'll put them on my porch.

I haven't decided where I'm going to keep them.

I'mprobably not going to keep him here in my fireplace but I thought it was a goodplace just to show how they look in the modes without committing to hanging themfrom a particular location so these these are just super fun lights.

Sothat's my Greenclick product haul.
